Terms of service

Last updated: August 12, 2026

These terms govern your use of Stencilbook. By creating an account you agree to them. "You" means the artist or studio holding the account.

The service

Stencilbook provides client management for tattoo artists: records, intake forms and waivers, scheduling, payments, gallery and portfolio tools, and a stencil maker. Features vary by plan; limits (such as client counts and SMS allowances) are described on the pricing page.

Billing

  • Subscriptions start with a 30-day free trial; your card is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
  • Plans renew monthly or annually until canceled. You can switch plans or cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
  • If payment fails, your account becomes read-only after retries — your data stays intact and exportable, and access is restored when billing is fixed.
  • Client payments processed through Stripe carry a 2.9% + $0.30 Stripe processing fee plus a 2.1% Stencilbook fee, deducted from your payout (5% + $0.30 total). The Stripe portion is Stencilbook's estimate of Stripe's own cost, paid by Stencilbook on your behalf — it isn't billed to your connected account separately. Stripe's own terms apply to your connected account.

Your content and your clients

  • Your data is yours. We claim no ownership of client records, photos, or designs, and you can export everything at any time.
  • You are responsible for what you store: obtain your clients' consent for their information and photos, respect messaging consent, and only send messages the recipient agreed to receive.
  • You are responsible for compliance with the laws and health regulations that apply to your practice, including waiver retention requirements in your jurisdiction.

Waivers are templates, not legal advice

The consent and waiver text Stencilbook ships is a starting point. Have it reviewed by a legal professional in your jurisdiction before relying on it. We are not liable for the legal sufficiency of documents you send or collect.

Acceptable use

Don't use Stencilbook to send spam, store content you have no right to store, interfere with the service, or attempt to access other workspaces. We may suspend accounts that do.

Service and liability

We aim for high availability but provide the service "as is" without warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for disputes between you and your clients.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable and a window to export your data except in cases of serious abuse.

Changes and contact

We'll email account holders before material changes to these terms take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Canada. Questions: support@stencilbook.com.
